We chat with Mausumi Chakravorty from the team. Edited excerpts of the interview – What made you start your venture? The thought process began when Prakhar (Co-Founder & CEO) bought a new phone from a leading company and it stopped working within a month of its purchase. After more than four visits to the service centre over sixty days he finally got a handset, which turned out to be even worse.
A similar situation arose with his laptop and DSLR camera. He realized that the lack of transparency and a highly inflated industry made the warranty and repair industry badly organized and low on service quality. He began thinking and researching on the industry and its scalability and finally came up with a business plan to rectify the problem. That’s how ZurePro happened.
It is a completely revolutionary online process, with a no lemon policy, that will help you avoid long queues, service centers visits and the need to take time off from work to get your favorite electronics repaired.
What has been the key to your business’s success?
ZurePro is a pioneer and deals, in complete transparency, with the customers. The aim of ZurePro is to completely abolish the intermediaries of repairing centers and provide a hassle free warranty solutions. Though there are other online extended warranty services offering certain policies, we at ZurePro have more to offer through our service kit. We guarantee that with our service, the online warranty market will witness a rise in consumers.
What are the major challenges in your line of business and how did/do you overcome them?
A major challenge was to establish ZurePro from the scratch. Initiating a concept and getting to know the industry is a challenge itself. Another challenge was the logistics and unorganized repairing centers. Since we provide a 7-day pick up and drop service for our customers, we needed to have a well-developed reverse logistic solution.
Do you have a mentor who guides/advices you on matters of the business?
Knowledge and perseverance are our only mentors. We are a team of young enthusiastic entrepreneurs; we have a strong belief and we consult each other when required.
Have you benefitted from the use of any specific technology for your regular operations?
We work on a very simple model and have not opted for any specific technology.
What strategy do you follow for Customer Satisfaction & Expansion?
We offer a transparent service, providing our customers with the best service at the most authentic price. After the customer buys our warranty plan, he is not charged anything. We provide two types of warranty:
1) Regular Warranty – covers all kinds of electronic failures except accidental damage.
2) Full Cover Warranty – which we plan to launch at a later stage includes accidental damage. The customer does not have to bear ANY COST after buying the warranty. We have got approximately two dozen repair centers and a dozen spare part vendors that cover around 15 major mobile and laptop manufacturing brands.
This allows us to cover more than 500 different electronic products from the very first phase. Our main focus is on the 7 day pick up and drop service. Our plan is highly scalable, we plan to expand and provide B2B2C protection solutions at a later stage.
ZurePro will be a revolutionary warranty service for the Indian consumer. We currently provide extended warranties on smartphones, laptops, cameras and mp3/ iPods. And we also plan to cover LCD and LED televisions.
What, according to you, are the top 3 skills needed to be a successful entrepreneur?
