If you have a successful small or medium business and need to grow, you need to mentor your team and provide them with the right training so that they can deliver. This can be done through engaging with them and building on their management and team skills. To ensure that your business’smanagement gets the right training, you need to set aside time for management seminars. Your role is to train them to be able to work together and communicate as a team both within the organization and externally. Here are steps that your company can leverage when you looking to train your management team: Bring in a fresh approach: You need to rethink your approach and work with different kinds of employees in your organization. Employees may be old staff, new or those within a dying department that needs to be rescued. You must rectify the situation before making any drastic decisions. Employees want a manager who will bring in a new and fresh approach.  For a department that has no problems, you should let it continue on its own and see if there are learnings that can be applied to other facets of your business. Hold team meetings: SMBs should hold periodic team meetings to check on the employees’ objectives, goals and if they are working in the right direction. You can go over performance based stats, sales, customer compliments, complaints, needed materials, training requests, and any other pertinent information. Announce upcoming events such as new projects, new products, and structure changes. Keep your team well informed and provide them with areas for improvement. Show them how to work as a team: You need to get the word out that everyone in the team should support and respect one another. Through meetings or seminars, teams will learn that they are dependent on each other to accomplish work.  Team goals tie into organizational goals: When it comes to team goals, be sure to inform your team that this is part of obtaining the organizational goals. You should understand that even if your department does not fare well, it should not deter other departments to succeed. Communication within your team: You need to build management and team skills with your management team. Often how you communicate defines how a business functions. Training will help you team learn how to run effective meetings, brainstorm and help them be active listeners. Communication outside your team: Sometimes your team members may ask you to mentor and coach them; this would lead to communication outside the functioning of the team. Additionally, you might have to deal with stakeholder analysis to identify the external groups that you are dealing with. Development of managers: Your management team requires the right training and development to get them on track to perform at their best. Management seminars and formal trainings will help them increase their specialist knowledge in their domain. Training maybe external or in-house that will help them develop team spirit and help them understand, and communicate with each other. Your SMB must project these guidelines to train your management team. Consider that you are helping them build skills like organization, motivation, development and communication skills. Your decision on training and management seminars will help them go a long way in fine-tuning their skills in a way that would make them work efficiently and effectively.
