For the past 50 years, the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has recognized a select group of entrepreneurs from all across the country to be honored for their awesome achievements. The celebration is part of National Small Business Week, which this year happens from April 29 through May 5.

Established by Presidential Proclamation each year since 1963, the awards are designed to highlight the assistance and mentorship programs provided by the SBA. New this year: a series of virtual conferences hosted by industry experts.

Since all of us in the QB Community LOVE any opportunity to celebrate the dedication and drive of people who work for themselves, you won't be surprised to learn we'll be recognizing some amazing small business owners as part of our own campaign. We can't wait to share more inspiring stories of entrepreneurial perseverance and triumph!

Emily, I signed up for the Virtual Conference. I was honored by the SBA as their New Jersey and Regional Accountant Advocate of the Year many years ago and attended many award conferences in New Jersey during that time. I look forward to some of the webinars and meeting people at the conference.

@cpajoe @Congratulations on signing up for education and inspiration! And how impressive that you were an SBA nominee yourself. I'm curious -- is there any specific learning you're hoping for during next week's webinars? I hope you'll report back and let us know which seminars you found particularly helpful. Thanks for sharing! @EmilyCowan

Hi Willow, "How Changing Consumer Behavior Impacts Your Business" is of interest. There is a perception that accounting and taxation will be significantly affected by the blockchain revolution and other disruptions such as the new tax law passed last December. While I hear about this at my professional CPA conferences I would like to hear about this at a less targeted audience.

"Creating and Maintaining a Strong Social Presence" will probably be on a basic level, but would be one of the likely spots to connect with other people at the conference, should such an opportunity exist.

At "Growing your business in 2018" I hope to learn about new techology tools that I may be able to use in my practice.

and "Fusion Marketing: The Next Generation of Marketing" will be the place to learn about new trends in marketing.

Hey @cpajoe - congrats on being honored by SBA (LOL there's no statute of limitations on that, right?)! I'm glad you'll be taking advantage of these free seminars. They look fantastic and really speak to the amazing work SBA is doing on behalf of small business owners in the U.S. Would love to have you check back in with us and share what you learn!
