Patience. It's been a crazy month for me, and I have to remind myself that everything happens when and how it's intended to happen. My go to phrase? "One day at a time." :smileyhappy:
Truly that's been my one-word theme for a few months now, ever since I heard the former CEO of the Ritz-Carlton speak about service. Mr. Schulze drove home the point that our current customers are the most important thing that great companies focus on. You can read about the other three on my blog "What I learned about service from a wise hotelier".
If you want to dive deeper into running a customer-focused company like the Ritz-Carlton does I strongly suggest you read: The New Gold Standard: 5 Leadership Principles for Creating a Legendary Customer Experience Courtesy of the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company.
Read about the other 3 keystones of running a successful business on my blog.[Please look for the link to my website on my profile page. Just click on the "Link to my Website" link in my profile, find the link to my blog on my website - it's in the top right corner, and the article I mention here is on the front page under Small Business Tips and Tricks."]
Resilince, I realized that this is my best skill.
I look for insiration in women when it comes to this word!
DETERMINATION. Where there's a Will, there's a Way!
@Cindy-RoxyIns I love that positive attitude!! What projects do you have in the works? Anything exciting to share? :smileyvery-happy:
Thank you for the recommended reads @photosbydepuhl! Keeping our current customers happy and feeling like our priority is super important; it's always good to be reminded of this. How do you practice this with your customers?
@AudreyPratt it's much more than just making our customer feel like they are our priority. They actually have to be our #1 priority. The great news is, that it is neither difficult, time-consuming nor expensive to focus our efforts on existing customers. Especially if you're a sole proprietor. In the last few months, I've begun to train the people that work on my crew to put my customers first. So far it's been a rousing success.
But we also can't ignore the other 3 vital aspects that Mr. Schulze drove home in order to be excellent companies.
November is synonymous with Turkey
True that, @Rustler.
How about Gloomy. October, until the past few days, has been like August in these parts.
After a long time working on this project, we are finally getting very close to releasing our application Vendorsync to Beta Testers. So November is all about connecting with other accountants, other software developers, and other business owners. This will be my first time at going to QuickBooks Connect, and I am really looking forward to it!
@john-pero I didn't realize how late it stays dark until this morning when I decided to get up at six to run....good thing Daylight Savings is this coming Sunday! We've had lots of August weather here in the Bay Area, as well. Where are you from?
@ParkwayInc I'm super excited you're attending Connect, and congratulations on the progress of your new business! November looks to be a very exciting month indeed. We will have to try to connect while at Connect. :smileyhappy:
Did you know we have a QB Connect group you can join to get updates and information on this years event? This is another great place to see who of your fellow members will be attending, too!
@jessbru99568 What are you most thankful for at this very moment? :smileyhappy:
This very moment? Well, that's hard to say...... I have lots to be thankful for. My wonderful family, our growing business, also we just got an oppurtunity to participate in a very good market downtown Chicago for the winter, and much, much more.
My answer also goes with Rustler's. Thanksgiving is a big holiday for our family. :)
Gratitude. I've had some significant loss in the last few years ... and sometimes found it really hard to be grateful. Sometimes that has hit me hard in November when we focus as a culture on being thankful. But this year, I am really feeling grateful. Grateful for my health, for my family, for my friends, for my team, for this community, for the sunshine streaming in my Portland home office right now. So... today, gratitude feels right for this month. #grateful
@LeslieBarber and @jessbru99568 You just totally brightened my day. :smileyhappy: Thank you for sharing your gratitude. I find it so easy to get hung up on the nitty-gritty details in life that get us down. But when we take a step back and look at everything we have as a whole, the good certainly outweighs the bad.
@SBSL-Founder-SJ Can you tell us more about your one-word theme?? I'm so curious :smileywink:
Don't know if I'm doing this correct or not, but my one-word theme for November 2017 is: "Entrepreneurship"
I run 2 Businesses, starting up the 3rd one, and now would like to educate myself and work as a Bookkeeper for myself and others. My father was a CPA and taught me how to reconcile bank accounts at age 10. I do my own taxes without the help of H & R Block. I'm Autistic and have Asperger's Syndrome which helps me out because my gift is math. So I'm here for education and knowledge. Wisdom and discernment will follow.
Welcome to QB Community @Anonymous,
That's a perfect one-word theme and congratulations on starting your third business! What steps do you need to take to get your new business off the ground? We are all here to help and support you during this process! How can we help you?
I am the owner of Reality Check Screening and celebrated my 11th year in business back in July. 2016 marked a stellar year for my company, but due to several circumstances, 2017 has seen a marked decline. At the beginning, I was "wallowing" in the misery of bad business. I have since picked myself up, made a plan and am being very proactive about marketing and we are making PROGRESS! (In the past, I've not had to market very aggressively as most of my new clients came from referrals).
@rhondajceo - I am so inspired by your ability to pick yourself up and keep going, and I am thrilled to hear you're making progress! Small business owners are so amazing for many reasons, but one reason that stands out to me is their ability to self-motivate and utilize every possible resource required to succeed. We're cheering for you!
What has been the most successful marketing tool for your business's comeback?
Daylight-Savings. In November, I always look forward to an extra hour of sleep on Sunday before the start of another productive week. I've even been known to forget the date so I am pleasantly surprised!
@Hayaibookusu YES! I love that, too. I've been dreaming about Sunday all week. Since we gain an hour, that extra hour makes sleeping in feel more productive! :smileyvery-happy:
