Are there functioning feeds available from Westpac Business Banking credit cards to QBO? QBO and WBC have conflicting information on this. Thank you.

At the following WBC web page

https://www.westpac.com.au/business-banking/online-banking/bank-feeds/?appAction=exit

it is stated as follows:

"† Currently Business Credit Cards and Business Term Deposits accounts aren’t available for third-party service provider’s except MYOB. This may be extended to other third-party service providers in the future."

This is contradictory to the information stated on some QBO help pages. However, I need a definite answer and confirmation that WBC business credit cards are indeed supported before I consider opening a WBC business credit card account, as I would only do it if there is a feed for it between WBC and QBO. Thank you.

Hi there, @DR-AU. I'll share details about connecting your Westpac Bank (WBC) to QuickBooks Online (QBO).

QBO only supports the connection of Westpac Bank personal and business banking accounts (excluding foreign currency accounts) through Direct Feeds. You can refer to this article for more details: The QuickBooks Online bank connection status page.

That said, you can create an account for your WBC credit card in the Chart of Accounts and manually add or import transactions. Once ready, here's how to add one:

  1. Navigate to the Settings menu and select Chart of Accounts.
  2. Next, click New to create a new account.
  3. In the Account Type choose an account type and the detail type that best fits the transactions you want to track in the Detail Type field.
  4. Enter the account a name.
  5. Choose when you want to start tracking your finances. In the Balance field, enter the amount in the account, and determine the as of date. Enter today's date if you want to start tracking immediately.
  6. Once done, select Save and Close.

When transactions are in, you can procced to categorise and match them in QBO.

If you have other concerns or questions about managing your banks in QBO, please add a reply below. I'll be here ready to provide assistance.

Hi Divina,

Thank you for getting back to me.

Yes, I looked at that page/article, but a part of your answer is not consistent with the information on that page. See below.

Westpac BankDirect FeedsPersonal and Business banking accounts (excluding foreign currency accounts)Green
Standard FeedsAll account types, including credit cards and foreign currency accountsGreen

As you can see from the extract above, it stated there that Westpac credit cards are supported by standard feeds. Can you please confirm that? Thank you.

I am not interested in manually adding or importing transactions. If I wanted to do that, I would not be paying for QBO.

Hello, @DR-AU.

I'm here to provide more information about the bank connections supported in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Through Direct Feeds, you can connect Personal and Business banking accounts with Westpac Bank (excluding foreign currency accounts). For Standard Feeds, all account types can be connected, including credit cards and foreign currency accounts.

There are two types of bank connections - Standard Bank Connection and Direct Bank Connection. The main difference between them is the way they can be connected. For Standard Bank Connection, you can log in using your internet banking username and password. For Direct Bank Connection, you need to either fill out a Client Authority form or enable the connection from your Internet Banking settings.

Check out this article for more information about the supported connection types in QuickBooks Online: Direct bank connections with QuickBooks Online | FAQ

Here's how to add your Westpac credit card account using the standard bank connection:

  1. Go to Bookkeeping, select Transactions and then click on Bank Transactions.
  2. Select Connect Account or Link account and then look for your bank.
  3. Click on Continue and enter your banking user ID and password.
  4. Follow the onscreen steps to connect and go through any additional security checks required.
  5. Select any accounts you want to connect.
  6. Set how far back you want to download transactions.
  7. Click on Connect.

See the following article for more information about setting up a new bank connection via standard or direct bank connection: Connect and manage your bank account in QuickBooks Online

After adding your transactions, you can now match, categorise, review, or exclude your bank transactions: Find and categorise transactions in QuickBooks

Let me know if you need more information about bank connections in QBO. I'm always here to answer them for you. Keep safe, and have a wonderful day!
