bank account direct feed not updating

Anyone else having this problem? Accounts were working fine bringing in transactions until i set up direct feed. I did this out of frustration of the permanent pop ups telling me to do it!

I've done this, got it connected etc.. now it says 'all up to date' clearly showing different amounts in QB to the account but does not bring any transactions into QB to review? Changed the browser as per QB suggestion, still "update" does nothing!

I appreciate you've already changed the browser and manually update your bank account to help resolve your direct feeds concern. 


Can I ask what specific bank you're trying to download transactions to QuickBooks? Also, are you getting an error message? This way, I can provide the best resolution for your concern. 


Right now, there's an ongoing investigation about the Direct Feeds aren't downloading transactions. This has been raised to identify the root cause why the transactions have stopped downloading. Our product engineers also are actively working for a permanent solution. 


As an alternative, you can a download a .CSV file containing the missing bank transactions from your bank's website. Here's how: 


  1. Log in to your bank's website. 
  2. Follow your bank's online process to download your transactions to your computer. 
  3. Choose the .CSV file. 
  4. Name the file you downloaded and save it in your computer. 


Once done, you can upload the file to QuickBooks Online (QBO). Here are the steps: 


  1. Go to Banking from the left menu. 
  2. From the Update drop-down menu, choose File upload
  3. Click Browse and choose the .CSV file from your computer. 
  4. Select Next
  5. Click Let's go or Finish

In line with this, I'd suggest contacting our QBO Customer Care Team. They can add your company to the list of affected users. This way, you'll get email notifications about the status of the issue. Here's how: 


  1. Go to 
  2. Select QuickBooks Online
  3. Choose Banking and Reconciling under What can we help you with?.
  4. Click Bank Feeds
  5. Scroll down the page, and choose Get Phone Number under Call Us section.

I also changed over to direct feed...worse mistake.

Had so much trouble with the transactions not appearing that I chose to cancel and go back to original setup. Bank with NAB, also no help there.

Hi 1291443115h37, thank-you for letting us know. Direct feeds are going through constant stability fixes. If you needed to move to direct feeds, I'm confident the experience you have will be improved. Otherwise, it sounds like the standard feed has all you need. Cheers.

This still does not work correctly, it takes almost 24 hours or more to update even though you select to update and it looks as if your API is working but updates nothing, it's pretty frustrating.

When can we expect this to be resolved?

Hi there, DerekBuntin.

Upon checking my resources, there were reports collected saying that the issue happened due to some non-encodable characters. These are the special characters included in the bank file that the system unable interpret. 

Though, I’d still like to gather more information about your concern so I can provide the best possible resolution. May I know what bank you’re working with? Did you upgraded from standard connection to Direct connect?

@Anonymous Yes I use NAB, the problem is the CSV that's exported provide a date in the format of 2 May 2019  and since the import CSV function doesn't have such a format it fails to import.


The point is though, the direct feed setup is supposed to be 'direct', I'd expect that to have a real-time feed at very least update correctly when you click the 'Update' button.
