Connection with Bank Australia account has been down for several days. When is connection going to be fixed?

Hi maxmelb,

The banking error 163 you're getting in your Bank Australia account in QuickBooks Online means QuickBooks is unable to connect with your online banking website. One common reason for this error is if your financial institution is blocking QuickBooks Online's access.

To isolate the situation let's perform some basic troubleshooting steps starting with using a new incognito window. Here's how:

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: press Command + Shift + N

Then, follow these steps to connect or update your bank's connection:

  1. Log back into your QuickBooks Online account, and click on the Banking tab.
  2. Select the bank account affected, and click on the Edit option with a pencil icon.
  3. Click on Edit sign-in info.
  4. Manually enter the correct login credentials for your online banking account.
  5. Follow the prompts and check you're For review tab if a new transaction shows up.

If the issue persists, I'd recommend contacting our Customer Care Team. That way, one of our support care agents can review your bank connection and escalate your account to our banking team,

In the meantime, you can manually upload your bank transactions using a CSV file upload. Here's a link for more details Manually upload transactions into QuickBooks Online.

I am in the same boat and really need this fixed ASAP. I don't want to sound like an brat but I don't have time for this, I am paying my monthly subscription for something that isn't working....

Another week and still NO FIX!

Suggest customer service to stop charging subscription fees until this is fixed.

Connection with Bank Australia account has been down for several days. When is connection going to be fixed?

Hi maxmelb,

I understand you're having fundamental issues with your online banking connection. And how important for you and your business to download your bank feeds. We are aware of the connection issue with Bank Australia and our engineers are working with the bank provider for a fix. I'd recommend reaching out to our Custom Care Team. That way, your account will be added to the Product Investigation and updates will be sent to you as soon as new information is received.

Feel free to reply on this thread if you have more questions about QuickBooks Online!

Connection with Bank Australia account has been down for several days. When is connection going to be fixed?

This is really poor!

My last update with Beyond Bank Aus was 7/12/2022 and I also pay quickbooks monthly premiums to use the account update function because of the time it would take to manually see if my debtors have paid there invoices or not.  This is costing me money and no doubt many other businesses too.

While it's good to know QB is aware and apparently actioning the issue, its not enough for this to go on for weeks.   If it can be done manually then QB should engage someone to do it AND bear the cost.  Not us the paying customer.

I and other should consider speaking with Xero or other brand about their QuickBooks migration process .

Thank you for joining the thread, BenT3.

Online Banking is a very useful service, and I understand how the connection issue Beyond Bank (AU) affected your work. Our engineers investigation on this issue is still ongoing and are working on a solution. However, they are unable to provide a turnaround time yet.

While waiting for the fix, I would recommend downloading your transactions and uploading them to QuickBooks. Here's an article to guide you through the process: Manually upload transactions into QuickBooks Online.

Thank you.

I have managed to import the data manually. I trust the automation will be resolved shortly.

The funniest pop-up appears when cancelling one of my subscriptions (see below).  It implies that while 2/3 are resolved, 1/3 of isses aren't resolved when customers take the time to call quickbooks support.

I feel that if QB was concerned about ethics and being a good corporate citizen it would automatically credit customers subscription for days where full service is not provided AND offer something more to re-instate goodwill.

it turns out that QuickBooks are in the clear on this one as I have had a lot of conversations with bank Australia about the issue and it is them at fault. Bank Australia has decided all of a sudden to cease bank feeds as it is against their terms and conditions to hand allow access to third parties ie QuickBooks.

I am swapping banks and keeping QuickBooks

Connection with Bank Australia account has been down for several days. When is connection going to be fixed?

Hi Dacvidbelle1523,

Thanks for posting in the Community!

That's right, we've received a confirmation that Bank Australia no longer supports standard bank feed connections. There will be multiple communication sent to notify impacted customers of this change.

Due to this circumstance outside our control, Bank Australia will no longer be available to be connected through QuickBooks Online. As such, bank feeds from this financial institution will not be imported to QuickBooks Online automatically and customers will need to upload a CSV file from their financial institutions or can manually enter the data.

Check this link to learn more about how to Import Bank transactions via CSV [VIDEO].

Connection with Bank Australia account has been down for several days. When is connection going to be fixed?

It seems that Bank Australia has implemented adidtional Authentication for Third Party Data Shring, ehich is NOT avbailable on Quickbooks. The standard bank feed with QuickBooks is using customer usual log-in which is a security concern.

Would QuickBooks support the Third Party Data Sharing authentication on Bank Australia?

Connection with Bank Australia account has been down for several days. When is connection going to be fixed?

Hi maxmelb,

Each bank has its way of classifying different activities which results in different permissions. At the moment the QuickBooks Online does not support third party data sharing authentication when connecting online banking accounts on file.

In order to add your bank transactions from Bank Australia, please use the CSV file upload option or manually entry of transactions. Check this link to learn more about What to do when your bank no longer supports your bank feed - QuickBooks Online.

Is QuickBooks looking into implementation of the ZThird Party Data Sharing on its roadmap. I believe many banks in Australia would enforce similar authentication with the introduction of stricter and more stringent Cyber Security Regulations and penalties.
