How can I unreconcile a few periods across multiple accounts? I’ve found some reconciliation errors and need to redo them (not simple fixes).

How can I unreconcile a few previous periods in QuickBooks Online (Australia)? I’ve identified reconciliation errors that aren’t easy to fix with journals or individual edits, so I need to fully undo and redo the entire reconciliations for a few periods to ensure the balances are accurate. I am currently the primary admin, however I cannot see the option to undo reconciliation, I have also asked my accountant and he cannot seem to see the unreconcile option

Hello there, Franky5.

The option to undo an entire period is a specialized tool included in the QuickBooks Online (QBO) Accountant version. Even as a primary admin in your QBO account, you'll only see the option to undo transactions one by one.

Since your accountant is also having trouble finding it, I'll outline the steps below on how to access the undo reconciliation button in the QBO Accountant version. You can also share this info with your accountant.

Here's how:

  1. Sign in to the QBO Accountant.
  2. Find and open the correct QBO company.
  3. Select History by account and the account that needs correction.
  4. Look for the reconciliation on the list.
  5. Select View report to open the Reconciliation report.
  6. When ready, select the dropdown arrow in the ACTION column, and then hit Undo.
  7. Click Yes, then Undo.

Please note that this option is only available to accountants added to your QBO account with the Accountant user role.

If you haven't done this yet, you'll need to invite your accountant first. Once they accept the invitation, they'll have access to your books and can undo entire reconciliation periods.
