Hello there, sherioz.

I'm here to ensure you're able to apply the correct tax codes for your GST payment in QuickBooks Online (QBO). This way, you can keep your account updated and record your tax payments.

Based on your description of your concerns, it seems that you pay your GST liability directly to the ATO. To apply the tax codes, you'll have to add a tax rate first so you can map your items. Then, manually record the payment in QuickBooks.

To add tax rates, here's how:

  1. Go to the Taxes menu.
  2. Select the Add tax button.
  3. Choose Tax rate.
  4. Enter a name for the tax, the agency you pay, and the percentage for the rate. Use a single rate if you pay just one rate to a single agency.
  5. Select Save.

Once done, you can now manually record the GST liability payment you paid to the ATO.

  1. Go to the Taxes menu.
  2. Select the Payments tab.
  3. Click the Record payment button.
  4. Enter the account the payment was withdrawn from, payment date, amount, and any memo for the transaction.
  5. Select Save.

QuickBooks helps you with GST and other tax obligations. Here's an article that contains links about instructional content for GST, PAYGW, PAYGI, and e-lodgement capabilities in the system: GST Central.

Please let me know if you have other concerns. I'm just around to help.
