Can i set up serial numbers on my products for tracking sales and warranty claims?

I sell some products that have serial numbers.  I would like to have a feature where a serial no. is requested whenever one of the items is sold.  This is to ensure that the serial number is not omitted during the sales process.

You can enter your serial number in the SKU field when adding your products and services in QuickBooks Online. Then, when you create your sales transaction and select the product or service, the serial number entered in the SKU will be displayed on the sales form.

Here's how you can add your products or service item:

1. Click on the Gear Icon.
2. Click on the Products and services.
3. Click on New.
4. Select the product type, Inventory, Non-inventory or Service.
5. Enter a name, under SKU field you can enter the serial number of the product/service.
6. Complete the set up on each field like sales price/rate and the income or expense account.
7. Click on Save and close.

Then, I recommend checking your Custom form styles and make sure the SKU is ticked in COLUMNS section. 

1. Click on the Gear Icon.
2. Click on Custom form styles.
3. Click on Edit inline with Standard template.
4. Click on Content tab, and select the second box in the preview to the right.
5. Under Columns, tick box for SKU to show in the sales form and invoice creation.
6. Click on Done.
