Why are my client companies missing from the Company Selection screen?

If some of your client companies are missing from the Company Selection screen when you sign in, there are a few steps you can take to restore them depending on whether or not you still have access to the client company.

Note:You'll need to contact the Firm Owner and request they verify that the firm still has access to the client company in question if: a) your access to the client company was as a firm employee or b) your access to the client company was through your being part of a QuickBooks Online Accountant firm (and you're not the Firm Owner).

If you still have access to the client company

If you still have access to the client company, have the Firm Owner proceed with the following steps:

  1. Sign in to QuickBooks Online Accountant.
  2. Go to All apps A bunch of numbers and letters on a tile wall., select Team, then select Users (Take me there).
  3. Select Add user.
  4. Enter the user’s name and email address.
  5. From the Assign roles section, select the desired role for your firm administration from the Select a role â–Ľ dropdown.
  6. From the Access to your clients' QuickBooks section, tick the box next to client name.
    Notes:
    • If a client has not been assigned a role, an invite cannot be sent to a user.
    • To assign a role to a client, select Assign access from the Action column. Then, select the desired role from the Select a role â–Ľ dropdown and select Save.
  7. When you're done, select Send invite.

By going through these steps, your access to the client company(s) should be restored.

If you no longer have access to the client company

If your firm doesn't have access to the client company, have the client re-invite your firm to their books.
