Change a GST rate using the QuickBooks mobile app (Android only)

Learn how to change a GST rate using the QuickBooks mobile app for Android.
While you can only add or edit GST rates on QuickBooks Online for the web, you can view GST rates and transactions on your Android device. For more information on GST rates, check out how to set up and use Sales Tax.
Add a GST rate
From QuickBooks mobile app:
- From the Menu ☰, tap Settings ⚙️, then tap Tax Rates.
Note: If this is your first time, you'll see an introductory screen: tap Add tax rate to get started. - Tap the plus icon +, then select Single tax rate or Combined tax rate.
- Enter information about the tax rate:
- For a Single tax rate, add a Sales tax name, Agency, and Rate, and then tap Done.
- For a Combined tax rate, add a Sales tax name, Component, Agency, and Rate, and then tap Done.
Note: Combined GST rates can include new and existing rates. Tap Combined tax rate if your tax agency makes you break down this tax into multiple parts, such as city, county, and state taxes.
Edit a GST rate
From QuickBooks mobile app:
- From the Menu ☰, tap Settings ⚙️, then tap Tax Rates.
- Select the rate you want to edit.
- Tap Edit ✎ and make your changes.
- Tap Done.
Add a GST rate during a transaction
If during a transaction you need to add a GST rate, this can be be done easily before completing the transaction. Just set up a new GST rate in order to complete the transaction.
- Open an quote or invoice.
- Tap Edit ✎.
- Tap Add Item, then tap +.
- Tap the Taxable box, then tap Add.
- Tap Create Tax Rate.
- Enter your tax rate info.
- Tap Done.
Your new GST rate will appear in your existing list of GST rates.
Override a transaction GST rate
If you want to see the tax override feature in the app, you need to first go to QuickBooks Online from the web and create your tax codes in the company file.
You can't edit a tax if you haven't selected any tax from the select Tax field, if you didn't select None when you select a tax, or if the transaction belongs to an old tax model.
- Open an quote, invoice, or sales receipt.
- Tap Edit ✎.
- Tap the Tax entry box.
- Change the tax amount.
- Tap Done.
