About the Trips page and vehicle info settings

Learn how to enter and change info about the vehicle you use for work.
If you track mileage with the QuickBooks Self-Employed app, you should also enter info about the vehicle you use. QuickBooks Self-Employed keeps track of your mileage and the value of your vehicle, whether you own or lease it. And if you use it for both personal and business trips, don't worry. We help you estimate your business travel so you can make accurate deductions.
When it's time to do your taxes, all the info you need is in one place. Here's how to enter and update your vehicle info in QuickBooks Self-Employed.
Enter your vehicle info
When you set up your vehicle for the first time, we recommend using a web browser.
- Select Trips from the left menu.
- Select the Add trip ▼ dropdown and then View Vehicles.
- Select Add vehicle.
- Enter your vehicle info.
- Select Save.
Edit your vehicle info
On a web browser:
We recommend using a web browser to make any edits.
- Go to the Trips menu.
- Select the Add Trip ▼ dropdown and then View Vehicles.
- In the Options column for the vehicle you want to edit the details, select Edit vehicle.
- Edit your vehicle info.
- When you're done, select Save.

Track the kilometres you drive for business on your profile.
Add a trip:
- Select Trips from the left menu.
- Select Add trip. (If this is your first trip, we'll ask you to complete the fields in the Vehicle info drawer first).
- Enter the Trip date, distance, starting point, and ending point.
- Select the trip as Business or Personal.
- Enter the business purpose.
- Select the Vehicle used during the trip.
- Select Save.
