Bank Reciliation Deposits, I am matching them to Invoice Nos. and coding them to Trade Debtors is this correct?

Welcome to the Community, rhondareardon-gm.

You can use the Trade Debtors account when categorizing deposits in QuickBooks Online. However, if you're matching them to an invoice,  select the Match option, and the account/category used is based on what was used on the invoice.

Here's how to match transaction:

  1. Click on the Transactions tab.
  2. Click on Bank transactions.
  3. Select the bank account where the transaction was downloaded.
  4. Locate the transaction and look for matches found and in the Category or Match column.
  5. Review the Suggested matches making sure it is the correct transaction.
  6. If the suggested transaction matches click on Match.
  7. if not choose Find other matches.

QuickBooks now knows the downloaded record is the same one you already entered. It connects the two so there are no duplicates.

If you have not manually created a transaction in QBO, then categorise the transaction and can allocate it to Trade Debtors account.
