Hi rj-rural-supplie,

Thanks for reaching out. It sounds like you may be reviewing instructions for capturing a receipt in the QuickBooks Self Employed App. If you are referring to the QuickBooks Online app, the receipt capture feature is brand new and is currently in the process of being rolled out to the mobile app. It is now supported 100% across QuickBooks Online when using a browser, and will be available across all Android and iPhone app users as soon as possible. In the meantime, you can still snap and store your receipts when creating an expense by tapping on the camera icon; see this video for a quick walkthrough.

Just tried your 'snap receipts' function on Android app (QB Online). Uploaded ok and I see when I login via a browser, I get a message under heading 'Processing' - "We're pulling info from these receipts. This can take up to 15 minutes."

This was 4 hours ago and still processing apparently. Snapped another receipt and both still processing.  Do you folks have any ongoing issues with your processing of receipts?  Cheers.

Thanks for joining us here in the Community, @milanoix.

I've got some troubleshooting steps that we can try to get this issue sorted out.

Let's clear your apps' data to remove the cache files. Doing this refreshes the app and ensures that everything is up-to-date. The corrupted files on the system can be the reason why you're unable to process the receipt.

To do that:

  1. From More Options ⋮, select on Settings.
  2. Press on Refresh Data.
  3. Choose Yes.

If doing this doesn't make a difference, I suggest uninstalling and reinstalling the app. To give you more tips on how to fix unusual behavior when utilizing QuickBooks Online, please see this link: Troubleshooting Quick-Start Guide for the QuickBooks Online app.

I'm also adding here some articles that can help you in capturing receipts and navigating QBO with its great features:

You can always visit me here if you have any other concerns. I'll be around to help. Take care!

Thanks for the reply. The receipt was uploaded ok. The problem was that QuickBooks seemed to be taking a long time with processing. I've just checked my account via my desktop browser and the receipts have now been processed (5 hours later). I guess QuickBooks' servers may have been struggling with workload or possibly some maintenance. Thanks again!
