How do I enter the date of job on new invoice?

Hi there, ormsbyv.

You can use the built-in Service date column on your invoices in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

This is specifically designed to indicate the exact date the work was rendered. I'll show you how to turn it on:

  1. Go to the Settings or Gear icon, then select Account and Settings.
  2. Proceed to the Sales tab.
  3. In the Sales form content section, make sure the Service date option is turned ON and saved.

If the job spanned multiple days, you can enter the entire date range (for example, "11/01/2025 - 11/05/2025") in the Description field for the corresponding product or service line.

However, if you're using QBO Advanced, you can also utilize the Custom field feature. You can see this article for more details: Create and edit custom fields.
