Is there a way to match two bank transactions to one invoice?

Good day, clouttravel.

We're unable to match two bank transactions to a single record in QuickBooks. You'll want to split the amount and create a separate transaction to match what you have on the banking page.

To create an expense, here's how:

Click the Create (+) icon and choose Expense under Suppliers.

Select the Payee, Payment account, and Payment date.

Choose the category and enter the amount.

Click Save and close.

Here's a sample screenshot on the banking section after you record the transactions in QuickBooks:

This article also includes more details on how to download, match, and categorise your bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.

Please let us know if there's anything else you need. Thanks.

Is there a way to match two bank transactions to one invoice?

Hi clouttravel,

You can use the Find Match feature to match two bank transactions to one invoice.

To do this:

  1. Select one of the bank transactions in the For Review section that is part of the invoice.
  2. Select Find Match.
  3. You will then be brought to the Match transactions page. Tick the Invoice that you want to match the transaction with.
  4. Select Save.
  5. Repeat for the second bank transaction.

Hope this helps!

Is there a way to match two bank transactions to one invoice?

Hi Bonny,

Thank you for your reply! This is exactly how I have tried to match the transactions however the expense will not appear in the Match Transactions view.

I have confirmed several times:

* That the expense and transactions are associated to the same account.

* The transactions and expense are within the date range.

I have also searched the transaction number with no success.

A phone call to Quickbooks just advised that this association (2 transactions, 1 invoice) is not possible however I thought I have successfully completed this association previously.

Thanks again

Daniel

Thank you for this. I slightly modified your instructions however it achieved the same outcome. I simply edited the amount on the existing downloaded (Receipt Bank) expense and created another expense so they matched the bank transactions.

Much appreciated!

Is there a way to match two bank transactions to one invoice?

I have a daily limit of $1500 with an expense of $1518

Expense was paid in two transactions

Expense is created in the system for $1518

I have the two bank transaction to match

However I am unable to save after selecting the first bank transaction

Trying to Resolve the difference doesn't help as the system is looking for another expense not bank transaction

Is there a way to match two bank transactions to one invoice?

Hi FM_WA,

We're unable to match two bank transactions to a single record in QuickBooks. You'll need to split the amount to create two expenses that you can then match to the two transactions in the bank feed. You can amend the existing Expense to show the amount of one of the transactions, and create a new Expense to record the second amount. Then, you match each transaction to each Expense in the Banking page.
