Hi I have just registered for gst, I am a sole trader. Can anyone tell me how I set this up on QuickBooks please.
Hello, Empoweryourlife-ss. To set up GST in QuickBooks Online (QBO), head over to the All Apps menu > GST > Overview > Get Started. Please keep in mind that once GST is enabled by configuring your BAS in this section, you cannot disable it later.
To proceed, select your business's accounting method and BAS filing frequency (monthly, quarterly, or annually) in the GST section. If you're unsure which option to choose, I recommend consulting your accountant or bookkeeper or contacting the ATO.
If you are required to report Pay-As-You-Go Withholding, check the PAYG Withholding and choose your reporting frequency. However, if your business handles PAYG Instalments, select the box and your preferred reporting method and frequency. You can visit the ATO website for more information about the reporting method.
If you are responsible for any of the following, select Other taxes and check the boxes that apply:
Then, click Save and finish to complete your setup.
Once enabled, GST will automatically apply to your invoices, bills, and other transactions. You can assign the appropriate GST code to each line, and QuickBooks will automatically handle the tax calculations.
