We recently turned off the PayPal sync and noticed there is no Paypal or credit card payments on invoices anymore. Is there anyway to have payment on invoices now?

I'm here to share insights about having PayPal or credit card payments on invoices in QuickBooks Online (QBO), @scott42.

When you turn off PayPal sync in QBO, the option to accept card payments (online) with PayPal will no longer be possible. You may either turn it on again or verify with PayPal if they can provide you the file to manually import invoice payments in QBO.

To further guide you in setting up the Accept Card Payments with PayPal app to allow customers to pay invoices by credit/debit card powered by PayPal payments in QBO, you can refer to this article: Accept Card Payments with PayPal app in QuickBooks Online.

Also, to further guide you on how your customers can pay for their invoice with a debit card or credit card, processed by PayPal in QBO, I'd recommend checking out this article: Create an invoice your customer can pay online.

Please don't hesitate to let me know in the comments if you have other concerns about managing invoices and payments in QBO. I'll gladly help. Take care, and I wish you continued success, @scott42.

@scott42

If you are running a service company, explore this 3rd party app to accept payments with Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover (Domestic), JCB, UnionPay, and Direct Debit.

Let's make sure to use the right PayPal link to connect the account successfully, scott42.

Just make sure to enter your Paypal account's username and password. Let me guide you how:

  1. Sign in to QuickBooks.
  2. From the left menu, select Apps.
  3. Search for Connect to PayPal and select Get app now.
  4. Mark the box for the appropriate file, then click Install.
  5. Select Let's do it.
  6. To authorize Intuit to pull data from your PayPal account, click Give permission.
  7. Enter the email address associated with your PayPal account then, select Next.
    • If you don't have an account, you'll be prompted to create one.
    • If you create a new account, you need to go back to QuickBooks Online and restart the connection process.
  8. Sign in to your PayPal account. To authorize the sync, select Agree and Connect.
  9.  Once the connection is established, click Return to Intuit.
  10.   Follow the rest of the steps to connect with the app.

Once connected, you should see the PayPal account appear on your Banking tab. You can also check this article on other ways to connect Paypal to QuickBooks (US article): Differences between Connect to PayPal app, Sync with PayPal app, and PayPal Bank Feeds

You can also find the frequently asked questions about the PayPal app in this article: Connect to PayPal FAQ.

I'll be around whenever you need help with your transactions and QBO. Please don't hesitate to add them in your reply, and I'll take care of them for you. Stay safe!

Hi,

I understand how to connect PayPal, the issue is you need to have Paypal connected to be able to collect payments on invoices.

For me, I don't want Paypal to collect fee or sale information and or import it into QuickBooks. I only want to connect to Paypal so I can utilise invoicing - is this possible?

Let me help with your question about receiving online payments in QBO, scott42.

QuickBooks Online has partnered with PayPal to give our customers an option to collect online payments. Part of the integration is the collection of applicable fees. It also shares sales information such as customer's name, amount, and sales taxes.

You can read more details about this integration in this link and article:

At the moment, there's no option to use the PayPal option without the fees. If the Connect to PayPal feature is turned off, customers will not be able to pay the option directly from the invoice.

You'll want to provide your PayPal information directly to your customers so they can process the payment outside of the program.

Then, add PayPal as a bank in the Online Banking section so you can import the payments. Let me share these articles as your guide:
