Why is it that in a quote or invoice, if the product/service tab is changed, you lose the description and price's?

Welcome and thanks for visiting the community.

 

The description and the price in the Amount field will normally reset when choosing another item under Product and Services field. This is because QuickBooks automatically detect what’s entered in each field. Also, allowing you to enter the correct information on the item you're selling. 

 

To make sure that the transactions will show an accurate information, you’ll have to input the data in sequence staring from SERVICE DATE, PRODUCT/SERVICE, DESCRIPTION, QTY, RATE, and AMOUNT.

Thanks for posting in the Community!


This is currently working as design, once you update the Product/Service on an invoice, QuickBooks automatically defaults the quantity back to 1 and it will remove the description entered. We currently don't have the option to retain the description after updating the products/services list. Rest assured, I’m passing it along here on my end to let our Product developers know. You can also send your product feedback through the Settings icon and click on Feedback.
