Hi All,

I have a question on expenses, I have a small CNC business where I manufacture parts for a local business. 99% of my work is with sheet goods where I will buy 30 - 50 sheets and the consume them as the orders come in. All of this work is custom for the customer and whilst 80% of it is repeated over time i cant batch it out as it may be months better a particular sku order and the qty will always change.

What that means is i may get 9 sku's out of a sheet this order but only 7 or 8 next due to the qty.

The work flow is:

- I order material in bulk
- Orders come in and are made (Some orders have 3rd party work completed also)
- Sent product to customer, get paid
- Order different materials as needed (In bulk)

My question is:

- What would be the best way to manage the stock, To be able to calculate the costs per item (Given the waste can be different each time).

- What should all the raw materials be classified as, and how would i manage the stock usage of that with each job?

Hope this makes sense, Appreciate any feedback.

Thanks for coming and bringing this one to our attention, @ADLCNC.

QuickBooks does not have assembly features that allow a manufacturing company or workshop to manage raw materials and completed goods autonomously. You should integrate QuickBooks with another app.

You can only sell the goods or quantities that you purchase in QuickBooks. Don't forget to update the number of sold items.

For those moments when there's something it doesn't do that you'd like or need it to, there are third-party apps that can help you connect to other services.

Additionally, I have included this article that will help you see your best sellers, what is on hand, the cost of goods, and more: Use Reports to See your Sales and Inventory Status

I'm only a few clicks away if you need assistance managing your inventory. It's always my pleasure to help you out again.

@ADLCNC

QBO doesn't offer any assembly feature for a manufacturing company or workshop to manage raw materials and end products separately. You should have an additional app to integrate with your QBO.
