Change your email, user ID, or password for QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Self-Employed

Learn how to change your email address, user ID, or password for QuickBooks Online or QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Important: Keep in mind, your QuickBooks account is connected to all of your Intuit products. Any changes you make apply to all of your Intuit products, including QuickBooks, TurboTax, and Mint.

Change your QuickBooks user ID, email address, password, and other info

  2. Go to Settings ⚙ and select Intuit Account.
  3. This opens the Intuit Account Manager.
  4. Select the Sign in and security menu.
  5. Select the User ID, Email Address, or Password section.
  6. Make your changes.
  7. When you're done, select Save.

From QuickBooks Online Accountant

If you use QuickBooks Online Accountant, use Intuit Account Manager to edit your info. It offers the same profile management, even if you're not signed in to your QuickBooks Online account.

Tip: You need to follow these steps for each unique sign-in you have. Do you have multiple companies, or seeing a message that your email is already being used? Consider consolidating them under a single user ID for a better sign-in experience.

Recover your user ID or password

Can’t sign in? Don't worry. Go to the Quickbooks Sign in page and select I forgot my user ID or password at the bottom.

Important: Since your QuickBooks account is connected to all of your Intuit products, this resets your info for all the products tied to your account.

If you still can’t sign in, you can fill out an email change request. Once we process it, you can log in with the new password you create and your original user ID. Then, you can use the steps in the section above to change your user ID or email if you want.
