Hi, I am trying to connect my QuickBooks to the ATO for BAS elodgemnts. Im trying to find my software ID, where can I find that on Quickbooks?

Thank you for reaching out on this and welcome to our community. 

While Software ID is used to enable STP with the ATO for payroll, company ID is used to enable e-Lodgement for BAS. Your company ID can be found with QuickBooks Online open, press the following keys on your keyboard.

• Windows: Ctrl + Alt + ?
• Mac: Control + Option + ?

This is not the most user friendly function - not clear on QuickBooks Online support website. Need to make it very clear that there are actually different software IDs & providers for Single Touch Payroll & electronic lodgment of Quarterly Activity Statements online.

Plus the Tax Office seems to be quite confused in initial phone call to organise this (different software IDs) with the same contact phone number. Very time consuming to resolve this issue while waiting for someone to answer from the Tax Office

I understand your part with regard to the different software IDs required for payroll STP and the BAS. This is not the experience we wanted to have with our customers. We appreciate you sharing your thoughts on the current software as this will help us to do better. I'll definitely share this with our Product Development Team for them to know.  The software IDs need to be unique for both the BAS e-lodgement and STP for the ATO to know what lodgement is it your submitting. Also, QBO is only basing this information based on the mandate from the ATO.
