hi tina-asfar-gmail,

Thanks for posting in the Community!

Are you referring to exporting the payroll journal to QuickBooks Online? If so, let's check your payroll chart of accounts to make sure it is correct and has a default account set on them. Ideally, payroll journals are automatically exported to QBO chart of accounts after you finalise the pay run.

Here's how to check your Payroll Chart of accounts:

  1. Click on the Employees tab.
  2. Click on the Payroll Settings tab.
  3. Click on Chart of Accounts.
  4. Click on Default accounts.

Check if a default account is set on each field. Then, once the above is set. Let's go back to your pay run and export the payroll journal to QuickBooks. Here's how:

  1. Click on the Employees tab.
  2. Click on Pay Run.
  3. Select and open the pay run.
  4. Click on Export to QuickBooks button.

You can then check the Chart of accounts in QuickBooks Online and see if the payroll journal posted successfully.

Please let me know if you have other concerns. I'm just around to help.

Thank you for your advice. I have tried these steps, however I am still getting an unknown error.  I have been able to export an adjustment run with one employee, and that worked, so we know the connection works.  It's the fortnightly payrun which is causing the issue.

Any other tips?
