In a transaction report is it possible to have the system show expenses as negative and income as positive so that a net figure would be shown for a client say?

Hello @hjblatman,

Thank you for posting here in the Community. I'm here to help you with your concern about the report in QuickBooks Online.

The system will automatically show the amounts in negative or positive depending on the transaction types and the account linked to the transactions. For example, if you create an expense and choose Credit Card as the account, the amount will show as positive (see screenshot below).

To answer your question, it'll depend on the account, like what's shown in the screenshot. If you want to show all expenses as negative within QuickBooks, the ability to do so is unavailable.

However, there's a workaround you can use to customise the data further. I recommend exporting the report to Excel and make the changes based on your business needs.

In case you're referring to something else, please let me know. You can add more details or screenshots for clarification.

Additionally, I've attached an article you can check out to learn how to personalise reports, like adding new columns and rows in QuickBooks: Customise reports in QuickBooks Online.
