How do I run a report by customer showing all item sales for a selected period?

Thank you for posting here in the Community, @nathan5.

You can open the Sales by Customer Detail report to see all the item sales and select the preferred date you want to see. Let me show you how.

Sales by Customer Detail report shows you your sales by customer. It also includes the date, type, amount, and total.

To run:

  1. Click Reports from the left menu.
  2. Type in Sales by Customer Detail in the search bar, click enter.
  3. Click the Gear icon inside the report page.
  4. Put a check on Product/Service.
  5. Click the drop down arrow under Report period and select Custom.
  6. Adjust the date you prefer.
  7. Click Run report.

Keep in mind that the Invoice or Sales Receipt may show multiple times, depending on how many line items used.

In case you want to know how to customise a report in the future, you can refer to this article for the detailed steps: How to Customise Reports.

Should you need any further information, please don’t hesitate to leave a comment below. Have a good day!

Thanks for the reply, but I can only see a Sales by Customer Summary report in the search results. There is no detailed report.

Hello Nathan,

The Sales by Customer Detail report is only available in the Essentials and Plus versions. I think you have the Simple Start version. You can try finding a third-party app that can create this report. Just click the Apps menu in the left navigation bar, or you can check out the Apps store. You can change the flag icon to AU to see the list of apps for your region.

By the way, I got an article with a list of reports in all QBO versions. Please check this out: Report comparison between QuickBooks Online subscriptions.

If you have more questions on your report, feel free to post back.
