Update the payment method or information for your subscription

Learn how to update the credit card information or payment method for your QuickBooks Online subscription.

You can pay for your subscription with MasterCard, Visa, AMEX, or even set up Direct Debit. Here’s how.

Before you get started

  • Only a Master Admin or Company Admin can update the payment information for your account.
  • Payment information updates must be done using QuickBooks Online in a web browser. You won't be able to update payment information from the mobile app.
  • If you purchased your QuickBooks Online subscription through an app store (iOS or Android), you need to update your payment information through the app store directly.

Edit card information

  1. Go to Settings ⚙ and select Account and Settings.
  2. Select Billing and Subscriptions.
  3. Select Edit ✎ next to Payment Method.
  4. Enter the complete credit card info and verify the billing address in QuickBooks Online is the same as the one shown on your credit card statement.
  5. Select Confirm card.
  6. Select Save Changes.

Set up Direct Debit

  1. Go to Settings ⚙ and select Account and Settings.
  2. Select Billing and Subscriptions.
  3. Select Edit ✎  next to Payment Method.
  4. Select Direct Debit.
  5. Enter the complete credit card info and verify the billing address in QuickBooks Online is the same as the one shown in your credit card statement.
  6. Select Confirm card.
  7. Select Save Changes.
