Can I have over 1000 locations in payroll?

Yes, you absolutely can have over 1000 locations set up in payroll. However you may encounter a limitation as to how many locations your employee has available to them when clocking in/out. All locations the employee is enabled for will appear even if the total number of locations in the business is over 1000; the limitation appears if the employee themselves is enabled for over 1000.

 

As an example:

John is enabled for 950 locations. He will see these locations available to him when clocking in.

Sarah is enabled for 1050 locations. She will not see these locations available to her when clocking in.

 

If you encounter this issue, you may wish to review which of your locations in payroll are set up as 'make this location available to all employees'. This increases the number of locations an employee is enabled for even if they don't need to be enabled for that particular location. In that case, you may like to manage the location access on an employee basis; this can be done on an individual employee's settings or in bulk using exports/imports via CSV/Excel; see here for details on downloading data extracts.
