Can Quickbooks run multiple companies in the same system

QuickBooks Online is designed to record one company per file. You can use locations and classes to record and track different departments or offices etc in QuickBooks however each file supports one company and one ABN.

Should you have more than one division or branch, you may utilize the Class feature. But if you are talking about the second company with different business, you should open a new QBO account.

Otherwise, consider switching to QB Desktop US or CA version. You may create and manage multiple company files with a single one time license. Deploy a private cloud or put your license on QB cloud hosting if required.
