I am trying to create a custom invoice template - doing a progress invoice with the project name (excluding the customer name). QuickBooks automatically concatenates the Customer name and project name and treats them as a single field referenced as 'customername'. Is there some way to get just the project name on the printed invoice. Also can i add the quote summary to a custom invoice?
Hi frankodownunder,
Thank you for your question and welcome to the community.
Are you able to send an attached screenshot of what you're looking at?
I feel as if a visual reference would allow me to get a better understanding into the nature of your enquiry.
Look forward to hearing back!
Kristian.
Hi Kristian,
The attached screen shot shows the onscreen invoice - customer name. It is a concatenation of the actual Customer name, a colon and the project name. The drop down window highlights the separation of the Customer name from the project name. When printing I can reference this concatenated field as the 'customername'.
However I want to just print the Project name without the customer name on the invoice. Is there a way to just print the Project name (the portion after the colon)
We are using QuickBooks Online Plus with Projects and Progress Invoicing turned on and an imported template for invoice printing.
Hi frankodownunder,
Thank you for the screenshot you've provided. Let me share with you on how we can show the project name only when printing an invoice in QuickBooks Online.
On the Billing Address on your invoice, you can onlu add the project name on it. Once saved, click on Print or Preview. Please see screenshot below to see how it looks like.
Feel free to reply on this thread if you need any help. Have a great day!
Interesting work around, but not really a solution as I still need the Billing address to invoice the customer.
As an alternative I will use the message box as the Project name.
Still not a satisfactory long term solution as I am having to do extra work to copy the project name into the message box, when the data is already held as a separate field.
Thanks for your reply, frankodownunder.
The information on your Billing Address will show on the Invoice to section when you print or preview the invoice. Yes, you may consider adding the project name on the Message on invoice text box or add a custom field on your invoice.
