How can I add GST to my invoice ? I tried to added GST but it says ( Out of scope) I don't know what it that means .

Let's get GST set up correctly together, Gustavo. Ensuring your invoices are accurate and compliant.

In QuickBooks Online Australia, setting up GST is essential for lodging your Business Activity Statement (BAS). This setup allows you to add GST to your invoices accurately. If you haven't assigned a GST category to your products or services, the system will automatically label it as Out of Scope.

Before proceeding, I recommend consulting your accountant or bookkeeper for personalized guidance. This will ensure that your GST configuration aligns with your business's financial requirements and complies with Australian tax regulations.

In case you don't have a bookkeeper or accountant. Visit our Find a ProAdvisor website to connect with professionals in QuickBooks and provide personalized support tailored to your business needs.

To set it up, here's how:

  1. Navigate to the GST and choose Get Started.
  2. In the GST section, select the accounting method and BAS lodgement frequency that applies to your business.
  3. If your business is required to report Pay-as-you-go Withholding, select the PAYG Withholding box to "tick" it, then choose your reporting frequency.
  4. If your business needs to report PAYG Instalments, select the PAYG Instalments box to "tick it, then choose your reporting method and frequency.
  5. If you report any of the following taxes, select Other taxes and tick the ones that apply to your business.
  6. Hit on Save and finish.

Once done, you can start recording transactions with GST in the system. You can enter a GST code or classify transactions. QuickBooks will automatically calculate GST on sales and purchases for your BAS period, eliminating the need for manual entry.
