How do I start using time activities in Quickbooks?

I want to know where I can record time activities in Quickbooks as I no longer want to use the payroll system to record my time sheets.  How can I record a weekly timesheet for employees within my file to use this feature?

How do I start using time activities in Quickbooks?

Before you start using QuickBooks time activities, you may choose to disable the timesheets feature from the Payroll Settings. Otherwise, you may leave it as it is.

 

To start using QuickBooks time activities, follow these steps:

 

1. Click the Gear icon and choose Account and Settings.
2. Click on Advanced from the left menu.
3. Under the Time tracking section, tick the box for Make Single-Time Activity Billable to Customer.
4. You may choose to enable the setting for Show billing rate to users entering time.
5. Adjust the First day of work week that suits your business.

 

Once the setting is enabled, you are now ready to create your first time activity.

 

1. Click the (+) New button from the left menu.
2. Under Employees, select Weekly timesheet.
3. Choose the Employee name at the top-left and the corresponding weekly period.
4. If you wish to make your timesheets billable to a customer, choose the appropriate customer name from the drop-down menu.
5. Tick the Billable box and enter the Billable rate.
6. Enter the corresponding hours worked per day accordingly.
7. Click on Save.
8. You may also create a Single time activity from the (+) New button for one-off time entries.

 

If you wish to import these time activities in payroll for use in payruns, you may do so from the Manage Employees button then Import Timesheets from QuickBooks.
