Can I change my practice account's country? I moved abroad and I need to do this. Thanks

Hi there, annie_surjan, and welcome to the Community.

I'd be glad to provide some information about changing your account's country.

While QuickBooks Online is available in many countries, there isn't a way to directly change which country your account is set as within the system. I recommend exporting your data to Excel or CSV files, and then re-uploading them once you have a new Online subscription with the proper country.

Here's how to get this done:

1. Log into your QuickBooks Online account.

2. Click the Gear icon in the top right corner.

3. Select Export Data.

4. From here you can choose to export Reports or Lists. (The reports are for your physical records, but the exported lists can be uploaded into the new account.)

5. Once you've selected what you'd like to export, click the green Export to Excel button in the bottom right corner.

I've got an of article that I believe you'll find useful: Export reports, lists, and more.

After you have your files exported to Excel, you're ready to open the new account with the different country. You can choose the plan for you here: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/. Once you're there, scroll to the bottom of the page to select the country.

When the account is ready, you can then import the Excel files you just created. The following articles will walk you through this process:

If you don't need the older account any longer, you can cancel that subscription. This article explains what happens to your QuickBooks Online data after you cancel.

I hope this information gets you started in the right direction. I'm only a comment or post away if you have any other questions.

Hi Morgan,

Thank you for the quick reply.

I am a bookkeeper and working with several companies inside my practice account.

I assume I can not export with access to their accounts as well, right?

Thank you for coming back here in the Community, @annie_surjan.

You're able to export and import the data of your new account as long as you have an Accountant user access to the companies you're working with.

After creating a new account, please have your clients re-invite you as an accountant user. This ensures you still have access to their companies. You may refer to this article for the detailed guide: Invite or remove an accountant.

Once done, you can now proceed with the process in exporting and exporting provided by my colleague above.

Please visit this article: Manage your clients with the Client dashboardThis link guides you on how to check the Billing subscriptions of your clients. Also, you'll learn more about editing the client's information and removing clients on the list.

In the case where your first client sends an invite and you can't accept the invite because you're in a different region, what can you do?

Hi there, @MGM_Accounting. I'm here to share with you some information about accepting clients' invitations to access their QuickBooks Online (QBO) file.

At this time, you can only accept clients under the same QuickBooks Online (QBO) region. If you are in a different region, then you won't be able to accept the invitation. As a workaround, you can let your client invite you as the company administrator for your to access their company file.

  1. Go to the Gear icon, then click on Manage Users.
  2. Tap on Add user, then select Company admin.
  3. Hit Next, then follow the onscreen instructions to complete the process.

And, here's how to invite other user profiles to QBO: Add and manage users in QuickBooks Online.

On the other hand, if you and your client are in the same region and you're getting the error message that you can't accept the invite, I would suggest reaching out to our Support Team for further assistance. A live representative can look into your account securely and review possible corrupted invitations.

For more tips, while working with QBOA in the future, you can also open the topics from this link: Related resources for QBO Accountant.

Feel free to leave a comment below if you have any other follow-up questions about accepting the client's invite. I'm always here to help. Keep safe!

Can I change my practice account's country? I moved abroad and I need to do this. Thanks

Hi,

I am trying to change the operating country, but I have a single work email address. Whenever I try to choose the package and sign in, it takes me to already existing account. I tried to change the already existing account's email address to my gmail address, but I am still facing the same issue.

I do not want to pay or subscribe to the wrong country by mistake. What can I do to avoid this issue ?

Thanks for reaching out to us, Mahmoud.

You don't have to worry about using your single work email address when creating a new QuickBooks Online (QBO) account because Intuit uses the same credentials for all products.

Since we're unable to change the country version of the account, you'll need to create a new one by choosing the country first. Instead of signing in, click Buy now & Save to avoid being redirected to your existing company file. I'll be happy to guide you on how:

  1. Go to this link: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/choose-country/. Then, click the country of your choice.
  2. Click Buy now & Save.
  3. Choose your preferred subscription and select Buy Now or Start free trial.
  4. Since you already have an existing Intuit account, click Sign in beside the Already have an account? section.
  5. Enter your username and password, then Continue.
  6. Once done, set up your account.

Additionally, you'll be interested in utilizing the Multicurrency feature to keep track of foreign currency transactions using the same account without changing the account's country.

Feel free to reach out to us whenever you need further assistance with creating a new QBO account. I'll be happy to help. Stay safe, and I wish you continued success.

@Mahmoud Katanani

Do you need to change from another region to QBO AU version or vise versa?

Hello there, Mahmoud!

I just want to add that if your existing subscriptions are for non-AU products and you wish to subscribe to a QBO product for AU, you'll need a separate Intuit account with a unique email address. This means you'll have different login credentials, that you can use to purchase QBO for AU products.

Simply changing the email associated to your current Intuit account does not enable you to add a QBO product for AU. It's still the same account, just a different email.

I'm modified the steps provided by JaeAnnC above, so you can set up a new Intuit account as you purchase a QBO for AU product.

  1. Go to this link: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/choose-country/. Then, click the AU flag, as the country of your choice.
  2. Click Buy now & Save.
  3. Choose a product and select Buy Now or Start free trial.
  4. Enter the required information in the field to create an Intuit account. Do not use this: Already have an account? Sign in.
  5. Follow the onscreen instructions to finish the process. Remember your login credentials of this account.

Feel free to go back to this thread if you have other questions in mind. Take care!
