It is required not for the payment (since you chose BPAY), but for the refund of any returned super contributions.
The primary purpose of providing bank details when using BPAY is to nominate a Refund Bank Account.
Just in case a super fund rejects or returns a contribution (for example, due to an incorrect member number or fund error), Beam needs a valid bank account to send the refund to you, the employer.
Refer to the article Setting up Payments with Beam in QuickBooks Online (QBO) for more details.
After completing this step, when you process a super batch, Beam will generate a unique BPAY Biller Code and Customer Reference Number (CRN). Use these details to manually pay the exact batch amount through your bank's website.
