Export your payroll data

There are a number of export options available from within QuickBooks Payroll powered by Employment Hero which can be exported as both CSV or Excel files.

To download this information, follow these steps:

  1. Select Payroll from the left-hand menu 
  2. Select the Payroll Settings tab then select Data Extracts (Located under Business Management).  
  3. Select the Data Type and the type of template you’d like to download
  4. Select the File format, then select Download  

The data has now been exported.  

Note: Looking for templates to Import your data? You’ll find the Empty template under Employee Data and Open Balances.

This is useful if you have multiple sets of location-specific accounts, if they need to change a particular account, it can be difficult to find all the places that an account is being used. The

Export

feature helps you see where they are being used across the whole Chart of Accounts for payroll.
  • Template with employee data - pre-populated report with all the existing employee data included
  • Template with employee data (including terminated employees) - pre-populated report with all the existing employee data included with terminated employees
  • Empty template - blank template with header values only, this is useful for new users looking to import your historical data. 
  • All employee groups - lists all employee groups with the employees in each group
  • All employee groups (plus employees with no group) - lists all employees groups with the employees in each group and employees that are not currently assigned to any groups
 Download a complete list of all locations for the business
  • Template with employee data - pre-populated extract with all the existing employee data included
  • Template with employee data (including terminated employees) - pre-populated extract with all the existing employee data included with terminated employees
  • Empty template - blank template with header values only, this is useful for new users looking to import your historical data.
  • Template with employee data - pre-populated extract with all the existing employee data included
