I have casual employees set up with the "No Leave allowance template" but they are accruing annual leave. How does this happen?

How can employees set up as casuals accrue leave?  How do I reverse these hours?  I have one of the employee asking for the leave to be paid out as she has resigned. Is claiming that she should be able to rely on the information on her payslip. Is that correct?  Her payslip also states that she is a casual employee and that she is being paid a rate that includes her loading.

Thank you to anyone who can assist.

I too had this problem with a new user to QBO. I had to Delete ALL the categories that accrue leave to stop the accruing for casuals. Client only has Casuals. KEYPAY - Why do you have CASUALS setup up to AUTOMATICALLY accrue leave when you know that in Australia we DO NOT. We will face a new problem when the client hires a new employee FULL TIME. Nothing I could do otherwise would stop the accruals or them showing on the payslips when I unticked "show on payslips" or clicking on the "pencil" icon within the payrun. Refreshed etc, nothing worked! Time and money wasted here for this Advanced Pro Adviser. Karen Southorn

I have fixed it by going into Payroll Settings; Pay Categories; Selecting Casual Ordinary Hours and unticking a box marked Accrues Leave.  Check the other categories too as the Sat & Sun rates also had Accrues Leave ticked.  Hope that helps someone else with the same problem!

Thanks so much for the answer.  What a pain - now i have to go back to each pay run and redo.  Not happy and the pay slips are incorrect.

So I have changed the settings to not accrue leave for casual staff.  Started redoing the pay runs from January and now I get a message that I can't finalise the pay because I have paid over ten employees...................Is there another way to delete the accrued leave without having to delete and redo the pay runs?

Thanks, I have changed this and manually add long service leave back...at lease, this will fix the problem for now I tried Keypay's article to override leave, totally useless, it will still show annual leave/personal leave on causal staff's payslip and each payroll need to adjust all causal staff, what a waste of time.

Hi ATS rockdale,

I would suggest contacting our partner support for payroll, KeyPay, to check your the setup of your leave item.

  1. Go to Employees in the navigation bar.
  2. Click on Payroll support in the lower-right hand corner.

If there's anything that I can help, please let me know.

I had a question about domestic violence leave and sent them an email to ask, they reply just copy the article on their page (same way as they respond to this topic question, giving a link, ask you to manual overwrite the leave), I have read more than 3 times everything they wrote about both topics and check all related article then emailed them. After they send me a link and want me to read, I told them that's not what I was asking. They respond: We would suggest that you contact the relevant authority to ascertain what a casuals entitlement is to DVL. Never waste time to contact them again ever, totally useless.
