Superannuation paid is listed twice

Superannuation is listed twice in the profit and loss statement. The payroll journal entries under Wages Expenses include the superannuation to be paid and then the same superannuation amount is also listed under Superannuation Expense. This doesn't seem correct? As it would suggest i'm spending double on superannuation.

Thanks for posting in the Community!


To avoid duplicate figures for your superannuation we'll have to make sure to allocate them to Superannuation Payable account. You can undo the categorised transaction by going back to your Banking page in QBO. Here's how:


  1. Click on the Banking or Transactions tab.
  2. Click on Bank transactions, and select the bank account where the payment was downloaded.
  3. Click on Categorised tab.
  4. Locate the transaction and click on Undo.


The transaction will move back to For review tab and ready for you to categorise them to the correct account.


If you're not sure which accounts to use, you can check your payroll default accounts using the steps below:


  1. Click on the Employees/Payroll tab.
  2. Click on Payroll Settings.
  3. Click on Chart of Accounts, select Default accounts.
  4. From here you will see the default accounts set for your payroll account.

This page also determines where the payroll journals will be posted after finalising a payrun.

Thanks for this. Unfortunately it doesn’t solve my issue as categorising the transactions is not the issue. 

The issue is the automatic journal entries are including the superannuation amount  under wages and then again under superannuation expenses. 
there is no transactions for me to categorise. The superannuation payments I have actually made are categorised but that is not the issue. I’m wondering why the superannuation owed is listed twice.
