by Intuit•57• Updated 3 days ago
Pay employee super contributions straight to any registered super fund in Australia with the built-in Beam super fund clearing house. This automated service comes with your QuickBooks Payroll subscription.Â
Beam lets you handle all your superannuation tasks and see payment history right from the Employees tab with no need to use an external portal.
Step 1. Register your business for automated super payments
Before you begin, ensure your business details are correct in QuickBooks, as these will pre-fill during the Beam registration process.
Before you start:
- An active QuickBooks Payroll subscription.
- Correct business details saved in Payroll Settings.
Steps to register
- Go to All apps
, select Payroll, then select Employees (Take me there). - Select Payroll Settings, then select Superannuation under Business Settings.
- Select Register with Beam.
- Enter/Confirm your Business details, Business address, and Contact details, then select Next.
- Enter your Payment method and details, then select Next.
- Nominate your Default super fund, then select Next.
- Read and confirm the Terms and Conditions, then select Next.
- Select Back to payroll.
The nominated default fund will now appear on your Superannuation Settings screen.
Step 2. Choose a payment method for super contributions
You can pay super contributions with Beam using Direct Debit, EFT, or BPAY. The payment method you set up will be ready to use when you submit a super payment batch.
- Direct Debit: If you choose this, enter the BSB, Account Number, and Account Name, then select Save.
- EFT or BPAY: If you do not wish to use direct debit, select No to proceed to other options.
- Refunds: Any bank account added during setup is automatically available as a Refund Bank Account for superannuation batch payments.
Step 3. Select a default super fund
Australian employers need to pay the Superannuation Guarantee. If an employee doesn’t choose a fund, their super goes into your default fund.
- Fund Selection: You can use Sunsuper Superannuation Fund or add your own by searching for a different fund's USI or ABN.
- Sunsuper Integration: If you select Sunsuper, a Sunsuper Employer account is created, allowing you to create member accounts for employees.
- Member Numbers: When using Sunsuper for a new employee, leave the member number blank; it will be automatically generated during the first contribution.
Register multiple/additional employing entities
If your payroll business includes multiple employing entities, each must be registered with Beam separately.
- Select Payroll from the left navigation menu.
- Select Payroll Settings, then select Employing Entities.
- To add a new entity, select Add and enter the details.
- Select the specific employing entity, then select Register with Beam.
- Follow the standard registration steps listed at the top of this article.
