Is it possible to move or remove the HST Registration No Line just below the company address and email information.  It doesn't show up when customising the form or on the preview pdf, but is there when printing the invoice or estimate.

Hello Brandon.laporte! Yes, you can remove the HST number...

Hello Brandon.laporte!

Yes, you can remove the HST number from your invoices. That line is tied to your sales tax settings, so you'll need to remove it there. Here's how to do that:

  1. Go to the Taxes tab on your left menu and select Sales Tax at the top.
  2. In the top right corner, click the Edit GST/HST drop-down and select Edit settings.
  3. Remove the number from the Business number (BN) field. You'll still be able to track and file sales tax like normal.
  4. If you have multiple tax agencies, repeat this process for the other agencies. You can switch between them using the drop-down in the top left corner.

If you'd like to add your HST number to a different part of your invoices, a popular option is to enter it into the footer section when you're customizing your style.

Have a great week!

This option .....

  1. In the top right corner, click the Edit GST/HST drop-down and select Edit settings.

Is not visible in the online version where I am trying to disable HST?

Hello,

I too do not see the Edit option.  The only item is 'Manage Sales Tax'.  Is there a problem with the  Canadian version?

Further to your answer above, how would one move the GST/HST Registration No. from the header to the footer of the invoice?

Re: Hello Brandon.laporte! Yes, you can remove the HST number...

Hello RashmiS,

I'll chime in here and give you some additional insight regarding your question. QuickBooks Online gives you many options for invoice customization. In this case, you'll have to use somewhat of a workaround, as you're not able to "move" this field to another location as it is now.

If you'd like the GST/HST registration number to appear at the footer of the invoice rather than the top of the invoice, you'll have to enter this as a "Message to customer", rather than in your tax agency settings. To do this, click New Invoice, and at the bottom of the screen select Customize. Click New Style, or Edit Current. Click the Content tab at the top of the editing page and click on the bottom section of the invoice preview. In the "Message to customer" box, enter your GST/HST Registration Number. Click Done

This will now show at the bottom of your invoice as a footer. It's essential that you remove the GST/HST number from the tax agency settings in this case, otherwise you'll see it on both the top and bottom of your invoice.

I hope this helps! Let me know if I can clarify further.

Cheers!

Re: Hello Brandon.laporte! Yes, you can remove the HST number...

Thank you!

I followed your instructions to display the GST registration number at the bottom of the invoice at the footer.  It shows in the form style preview, but not on the preview of the invoice itself.  Any idea why?

Re: Hello Brandon.laporte! Yes, you can remove the HST number...

Don't worry, we'll sort this out.

I've ran this through my test account and it's appearing at the very bottom of the invoice preview PDF. Did you enter this text in the customization field that says "Add payment details and footer"? If not, try entering the message there, rather than in the box above it. This is in the Content tab in the customization screen. Let me know if that works for you.

Thanks AddieB.  Yes, when I placed the GST number in the "Add payment details and footer" field it shows up on the actual invoice preview too.  Thanks again!
