Im working with a comp, and they cant access acct because employee is no longer with them. We are going to cut the payment soon. What do i need to prove the acct is ours?
Having control over your account is important, and my goal is to help you with the steps you need to sort out this situation with your QuickBooks Online account. Luckily, QuickBooks has a fairly simple process to prove account ownership that I think may just be what you're looking for.
With a few more details, I'm confident that we'd be able to direct you with the steps you need to take, but from what you've got here, it sounds like you've got a situation where the previous master admin of an account is no longer around and you need to take over the account. When it comes to QuickBooks Online accounts, the account ownership is determined by who is the master administrator user. When that's not you and you feel it should be, you can submit a request to petition its change.
The Request to be the master admin or primary contact explains why you might undergo this process and walks you through the steps while also providing information about timelines and how you'll be contacted. I recommend starting there to see if that's what you're looking to do.
If that doesn't quite fit your situation, I strongly suggest connecting with one of our support team members outside of the QuickBooks Community. As a public forum, this isn't a great place to discuss specific account details, which seems to be what you'll need here. There are a few ways you can privately get in touch with us though. Check them out below.
Schedule a Callback or start a Chat: click (?)Help in the upper right > type and enter "Contact support" into the QB Assistant > click Contact Us > explain your situation > click Let's Talk > choose Get a callback or Start a Chat. Support is available from Monday to Friday between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. ET.
