User with Multiple Companies under 1 email address. Is there a way to move from one company to the next.

I have 3 companies on one email address. Once I log in and select a company and then taken to that companies QBO account is there an easier way to switch to a different company without logging out and back in again?

Hello Caryns,

I can see the importance of being able to easily switch between your companies. Don't worry, I'll show you how to do this using simple steps. QuickBooks is an easy-to-use program that simplifies the way you manage your work.

Here's how to switch between companies without having to log out each time you do that:

  1. Click on Settings ⚙️.
  2. Under Profile, select Switch Company.
  3. From the list, select the company you want to switch to.

I encourage you to try this out and let me know how you make out. I'll be on standby in case you need anything else.

After using the desktop app for several years, losing the ability to have multiple companies open at one time is a major drawback.

It's unfortunate that you would stop supporting an app without matching options in the online version.

Hi LManning,

Thanks for taking a moment to share your thoughts here on this thread about working with QuickBooks Online while having multiple companies under the same login credentials. I know the QuickBooks Online app for Windows and Mac (often called the desktop app) made a big difference for many users in this area as it included the option to open more than one company at a time, like you've mentioned here.

As you've also noted, the desktop app was discontinued and we recommend working in a browser to avoid errors and stay up to date with the software. When it comes to wanting to have multiple companies open at the same time, it may require some workarounds, such as using multiple browser types to do so. If you'd like it, this article includes supported browsers: System requirements for QuickBooks Online, Accountant, and QuickBooks Self-Employed
