Cancel your QuickBooks Desktop subscription

SOLVEDby QuickBooks35Updated October 13, 2023

Contact QuickBooks Desktop technical support to cancel your QuickBooks Desktop subscription or support plan. To avoid any further charges, it's best to cancel your subscription at least 5 days prior to your next billing date.

Cancellation policies for QuickBooks Desktop subscriptions

Within the 60-day money back guarantee (monthly and annual subscriptions)

  • You can receive a full refund for your QuickBooks Desktop subscription if you cancel within 60 days of signing up. The refund will be processed to the credit card that we have on file for you.

Outside the 60-day money back guarantee (monthly subscriptions)

  • Refunds aren't available for the current billing period.
  • Once your subscription is cancelled, you'll no longer be able to use or access QuickBooks Desktop.
  • Your company file will remain on your device, but you'll need to re-activate your subscription to be able to open and view it.

Outside the 60-day money back guarantee (annual subscriptions)

  • Pro-rated refunds aren't available for the unused portion of your annual subscription unless you're moving to a different QuickBooks Desktop product subscription or a QuickBooks Online subscription.
  • If you're eligible for a refund and pay by credit card, expect the refund to appear on your credit card statement 7 to 10 business days after it's processed.
Important: the refund will go back on the credit card used to make the purchase. If your credit card number has since changed, you'll need to work with your bank to have the credit transferred.
  • If you're eligible for a refund and pay by Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT), expect the refund to appear on your account 10 business days after it's processed.
  • If you're not moving to another QuickBooks subscription, you'll continue to have access to your product through the end of your current subscription period.
  • At the end of your current subscription period, you'll no longer be able to use or access QuickBooks Desktop.
  • Your company file will remain on your device, but you'll need to re-activate your subscription to be able to open and view it.
