2021 QuickBooks Online price change for Canada

Price changes for new QuickBooks Online Essentials, Plus, and Payroll subscriptions will go into effect on March 16, 2021.

If you are currently subscribed to QuickBooks Online or are a firm owner and have Essentials or Plus clients currently on the wholesale discount (firm is billed), the list price for these subscriptions will change on your first billing date on or after April 1, 2021.

QuickBooks Workforce invites employees to view their pay stubs and T4s/ Relevé-1s, as well as set up their personal information.

QuickBooks Workforce is available to employees. It requires an Intuit Account and acceptance of the Intuit Terms of Service and Privacy Statement.

What are the  list prices effective as of March 16, 2021?

Effective March 16th, 2021 for all new subscriptions and starting April 1, 2021 for subscriptions purchased prior to March 15,2021:

When does the new pricing go into effect?

The new price takes effect on or after March 16, 2021 for new customers.  Starting on or after April 1, 2021, the price change will take effect for existing customers, who purchased their subscription prior to March 15,2021.

Why are you increasing prices now?

We strive to accelerate the rate of investment and innovation that we release for you and your clients. As you add more clients, the more we are able to invest in innovations such as Month-end review, major reporting enhancements, and workpapers.

I have Bill My Client customers who purchased in the last 12 months and are still receiving a 50% discount on their QuickBooks Online account.  Will they also receive the price change?

Bill My Client subscriptions will receive the price change once their 50% promotional period has ended.  However, if they purchase the payroll add-on, they will be billed the $3/employee/month price.

This also applies to subscriptions who purchased bulk multi-company offers and those who purchased through our Partner programs.

I have purchased wholesale subscription packages.  Will my package price be affected?

Package pricing will not change during its promotional period.  However, when the promotion ends, the price of subscriptions will be updated to reflect the then-current list price.

My client recently upgraded their subscription. Will they get the new pricing too?

If your client purchased their subscription prior to October 1, 2020 they will see a change in their base price for their subscription.  Any discounts they may be receiving will be applied to the new list price.  They will receive notification of the price change in February 2021.

My client’s subscription was cancelled and they are past the 15-day re-subscribe period. Can they get the old pricing?

Unfortunately not. They need to subscribe at the then-current list price.

How long until the next price change?

Price changes are not tied to a calendar schedule. They reflect the added value QuickBooks Online brings to its customers over time through added features and product enhancements. But we do understand that you may base the cost of your services on the price of this product. We’ll continue to give you advance notice of any changes we make to your pricing. All customers impacted by a price change are notified by email and we give accountants advance notice of any price changes so you can plan accordingly.

How can I check billing details for my direct-billed clients?

  1. Log in to your QuickBooks Online Accountant Firm.
  2. Access your client’s QuickBooks.
  3. Select the Gear icon at the top right, then select Account and Settings.
  4. From the left menu, select Billing & Subscription.
  5. Select View payment history.
  6. Filter using the Filter by Date Range option, if necessary.

 

How can I check billing details for my clients on wholesale billing in QuickBooks Online Accountant?

  1. Log in to your QuickBooks Online Accountant Firm.
  2. Select the Gear icon at the top right, then select Your Account.
  3. Within the Wholesale billing section, under QuickBooks subscription, select the link for the type of statement you need.
  4. Select View QuickBooks billing history to see charges for QuickBooks Online subscriptions.
  5. Select the View payroll billing history to see charges for payroll subscriptions.

 

How will I be billed for the subscriptions I manage?

You will be billed once a month for all of your clients under your subscriptions. Your billing date is set based on the date of the month you added your first client onto your QBOA billing account and all of your subsequent subscriptions will also be billed on this established date.

Can I be billed for my subscriptions annually?

No. Currently, billing for your clients with discounts only happens monthly.

I want to pay for the QuickBooks Online subscription and my client to pay for the Online Payroll subscription. Is this possible?

No. Currently, the wholesale discount program only supports them as a bundle; therefore, different billing sources are not possible.

I was paying $20/month for a Plus subscription and now it has jumped to $30/month. What is this about?

Some subscriptions were being billed $20/month in error, when they should have been billed $25/month.

With this price change we are correcting the price point for those subscriptions that were incorrectly billed.

On your next billing date after April 1, 2021, you can check your billing details using these steps:

  1.     Sign into Quickbooks Online.
  2.     Select the gear icon.
  3.     Select Account and settings.
  4.     Select Billing & subscription.

 

I am currently receiving a discount on my QuickBooks Online bill.  Will I still get the price change?

QuickBooks Online subscriptions receiving a discount will not see a price change during their promotional period.  However, when the promotion ends the subscription price will be updated to reflect the then-current list price.

How long until the next price change?
