I can't get my bank balance to match in quickbooks online. I have reentered the banking information, rebooted my computer and refreshed. any suggestions?

To begin with, it's great to hear that you've compared your actual bank balance to what's shown in QuickBooks. There are several reasons why your actual balance might not match the balance in QuickBooks:

 

  • Outstanding Transactions: These are transactions that haven't cleared in QuickBooks yet, so they won't appear on your bank statement.
  • Duplicate Transactions: A transaction may have been manually entered and then downloaded again from the bank feed, causing it to appear twice. To resolve this, simply delete the duplicate entry.
  • Incorrect Account Assignment: A transaction might have been entered into the wrong account.
  • Edited or deleted transactions: If a previously reconciled transaction has been edited or deleted, that might lead to discrepancies. You can check the audit log to see if any changes have been made.
  • Incorrect opening balance: If the starting balance for your bank account in QuickBooks is incorrect, it will throw off your reconciliation.
