Thank you for reaching out with your concerns, Adurette. Regularly updating bank transactions is the most efficient way to manage your time.
In the meantime, please reach out to your bank to inquire about any updates or ongoing issues on their end that might be preventing transactions from updating and syncing with QuickBooks.
While we fix the bank connection issue in QuickBooks, you can manually upload your transactions using a CSV file format.
If the issue persists, I recommend reaching out to our Live Support team. They have the necessary tools to investigate further and guide you through the next steps.

I've been having the exact same problem and it has not been resolved. It's been ongoing since Oct 31, 2025. Error Code OL-222
Hi Watercrab.
I understand how important it is to have your transactions up to date, and I recognize how this error is preventing you from accessing them for such an extended period of time.
The error you encountered indicates that QuickBooks did not receive a valid response from your financial institution's server. This issue may occur if your bank is importing data in a format unsupported by QuickBooks or if there is a problem with your bank's server that is causing the error.
If you’ve already followed my colleague’s advice to check for notifications or maintenance updates from your bank and manually uploaded your transactions via a CSV file, but the error persists, I recommend contacting our live expert support team.
Our live experts have specialized tools to review the cause of the error more thoroughly and can assist you in resolving the issue in real time.

RBC implemented a slew of changes around the Visa Transactions download process. You can now enter a starting posting date and an ending posting date for records shown in the online banking transactions display. When you are satisfied with the records being shown, you can press the download button and the data you saw on in your browser is then packaged up in a file for download to your device.
However, the formatting of the download data in Quickbooks format changed.
1. The file name now has the ".txt" file name extension. This is a minor problem. One can fix this by renaming the file, giving it the '.QBO' file name extension.
2. There are no Carriage Returns (CR) and Line Feed (LF) characters preceding each '<' character, as was the case in files downloaded in the past. This too is a relatively minor problem. One can fix this with Notepad++ by inserting the CRLF.
3. A much bigger problem is the value associated with the <FITID> tag (Financial Institution Transaction ID). This data element used to be a unique string of characters that identified a transaction (similar in concept as a VIN identifies a physical automobile). Having this unique data element allowed for identifying records that were duplicates of records already downloaded in the past. In the system implemented recently, the value of the <FITID> tag is obviously created at time of creating the data file to be downloaded. To prove this, I downloaded some data with the new software, data which I had already downloaded with the old version of the software, and all the <FITID> values were changed. Then I downloaded the same data again, and all the <FITID> values were different again. So now I had a set of records containing three copies of one unique transaction. This change makes it now impossible to identify duplicates.
Thanks for the insight, it doesn't make sense to me why they would make this harder when it has been working for years.
I'm getting the file with the proper .qbo extension but the carriage returns are all missing, so it seems extremely tedious to have to reformat the entire file, unless there is an easier way to do that?
Is it better to try to contact RBC or to contact someone at Quickbooks to solve this?
