How can we control the column width while reconciling?

All attempts result in columns falling off the page view and columns reverting to too-narrow size. Deleting columns doesn't help.

Re: How can we control the column width while reconciling?

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out to us here in the Community. I'd be happy to help you adjust the column width on the Reconciliation screen.

It's important that you're able to view all the information appearing in each column as you reconcile your accounts. Adjusting the columns is simple and straightforward.

All you have to do is hover your mouse over the top column bar, where the title of each column appears. Between the columns, your mouse will adjust into a grabbing tool, which you'll use to click and drag the columns to adjust them.

If you're having trouble with that, please don't hesitate to reach back out for help.

Have a great day!

Re: How can we control the column width while reconciling?

The method you described is the method I am already attempting to use. Every time I increase the column width on the account column, the amounts columns go off the page and it is almost impossible to simply adjust all columns to an appropriate width for viewing and have them all on-screen. Worse, the columns keep reverting back on every sort, etc. As you say, it is important to be able to see all the information on the page when reconciling but that seems impossible to achieve.

I see what you're saying. Thanks for giving those steps a try.

The amount of information you'll be able to view will largely depend on the device you're using. Larger computer monitors will allow you to view more information on the screen, whereas smaller screens may have limitations. I'd recommend minimizing the text on your screen by clicking "Ctrl -". Doing this will allow for greater visibility of each of your columns.

If your columns continue to revert back to their original formatting, you may want to clear the cache and cookies in your web browser. Doing this will help clear out any stored Internet files that may be bogging you down and causing bugs in QuickBooks Online. To do that, take a look at the steps here: How do I clear my browser cache and temporary Internet files?

Another thing I'd recommend is submitting your feedback to our software development team. To do this, click the Gear icon > Feedback. These messages get sent straight to the engineers, and your feedback helps us to improve the QuickBooks experience.
