PC Financial Mastercard - can't create account at all, so can't import

I understand that PC Financial and Intuit are at odds over connecting online to get transaction data. PC Financial customer support is noncommittal about making it work, but says they appreciate knowing it's a wanted feature.

I figured I could import CSV files into Quickbooks Self-Employed (Canada). Problem is, I can't create the account to import to. PC Financial doesn't come up in the bank/credit card list when I go to add the account. Because I can't add the account, I can't import transactions. I haven't found a way to create a generic offline-only dummy account as a kludge. I'm stuck.

Ideas?

Hello there, bigasssuperstar.

Since the bank is not connected, the option to import the transactions under a specific account is unavailable. I'll go ahead and send feedback for creating an account to import bank data. For now, let's import your data under Cash Account.

Here's how:

  1. Select Imports.
  2. Click Import older transactions on the right side for Cash Account
  3. Follow the instructions onscreen to finish importing your data.
  4. Select Import.

Please let me know if you need anything else.

Thank you. I will try this as an interim solution. I hope PC & Intuit can work something out -- I've already let PC know that I'm moving much of my purchasing to another credit card until a workable solution is available.

PC Financial Mastercard - can't create account at all, so can't import

Hi there,

I'm here to help. I can appreciate that the bank feed is an important aspect of your QuickBooks Online account. I'd be happy to pass along your feedback to the right team so that they're aware of your concerns. In the meantime, please follow MaryLurleenM's workaround solution and import your transactions manually. This is a great way to keep track of your transactions, and it just takes a few more additional steps.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do to help.

Have a great day.

Hello, @allanphoto.

Allow me to step in and help you with the workaround provided by my colleague.

Just go to the Gear Icon and select Imports. Then follow the rest of the steps provided.

That should do it. Should you need other references for future use, you can visit our help site for information: Help articles for QBSE.

Please let me know if you have additional questions about the import workaround. I'm here to help.

Welcome to the Community, allanphoto.

I'm here to help you create an account and import the transactions manually into QuickBooks Online.

You can manually bring the transaction into QuickBooks Online using a WebConnect file. You can download the last 90 days of transactions using this feature.

Download transactions from your bank's website:

  1. Sign in to your bank's website.
  2. Follow your bank's online process to download your transactions to your computer.
  3. Depending on your bank's available features, choose transactions from specific or multiple accounts, or select a date range for transactions. If you're adding historical transactions for a connected account, make sure you specify a date range earlier than the last 90 days. If you overlap date ranges, you may end up with duplicate transactions, which you must then delete or exclude. Because QuickBooks Online only supports files sizes up to 350 KB (kilobytes), if you're downloading a lot of transactions, you may need to download smaller date ranges.
  4. Choose a supported file type for the download file. If you attempt to upload a file in an unsupported format, you will receive an error message.
  5. Note the name of the file you downloaded, and the location you downloaded it to so you can easily find it to upload.

Upload the file to your QuickBooks Online company:

  1. From the left menu, select Banking, and choose Banking.
  2. From the Update drop-down menu, select File Upload. If you’ve never connected an account, you can select Upload transactions manually.
  3. Select Browse and choose the file you downloaded from your bank.
  4. Select Next.
  5. From the QuickBooks account drop-down list, select the account to which to upload the bank transactions, and select Next. If you don't have an account set up yet, you can select Add New to add an account.
  6. When uploading a CSV file, follow the prompts to select columns from the CSV file that match QuickBooks Online banking fields. You can also upload CSV bank transactions through the Import Data page. To do so, select the Gear icon, and, under Tools, select Import Data, then select Bank Data.
  7. Select Next. If you attempt to upload a file in an unsupported format, you will receive an error message.
  8. Select Let's go! (or Finish).

You can get more details in this article: How to upload more than 90 days of bank transactions.

Also, these articles are good references as well:

If you need to discuss sensitive information, feel free to reach out to our QuickBooks EasyStart. To reach us, please follow these steps:

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online company.
  2. Select Help (question mark icon) at the top right.
  3. Select Contact us to connect with a live support agent.

Let me know how it goes by leaving a reply below. Have a good one.

PC Financial Mastercard - can't create account at all, so can't import

I'm having the same challenge as others here. VERY frustrated that PC Financial MasterCard is not an account we can add on QuickBooks. Not sure if I'll keep using QuickBooks or PC MasterCard if they don't sort this out SOON!

In the meantime, I downloaded all of my transactions into a CSV file, reorganised them into Description-Date-Credit-Debit and tried to upload them using the instructions above, but keep getting an error message telling me to check the Date and Amount number formats. Doesn't make sense. My list is fine. Please help!

@Aotearoa ,

Utilize the trial period of 3d party importer tool

https://transactionpro.grsm.io/qbo

Thank-you @Fiat Lux - ASIA for your suggestion. Unfortunately, I'm on a Mac, using self-employed Quickbooks, and limited to online site use. I think Transaction Pro is only for people using Quickbooks Desktop, but I may be wrong? Good suggestion otherwise - very surprised that such a major bank and credit card isn't linked with Quickbooks yet. So disappointing!

@Aotearoa

It supports QBO (including on Mac), but unfortunately doesn't support QBSE. I have yet to find any 3rd party tool supporting QBSE.
