I'm here to help get the QuickBooks program back up and running.

We can download and run the QuickBooks Install DiagnosticTool. This tool is designed to automatically identify and fix issues with .NET Framework, C++, and MSXML, and component related issues which cause the program to freeze.

I've found an article with detailed steps along with several recommendations you can try: QuickBooks Desktop won't open, has stopped working, or not responding

If you need help with the steps or if you have any more questions, please let me know.

The diagnostic tool does not fix this problem.

Leave it alone -- it is doing updates -- for 10m or 30 m or even hours. Next time it will be quick.

The fix did not fix my "freezing on exit" problem .... even after waiting a few hours.

Hello - thanks for this information but I have a Mac and all of these files are for Windows operating system.  

I am not able to get Quickbooks to shut down on my system.  I just have the spinning circle with a black screen on my Quickbooks window that doesn't do anything.  I'm unable to force quit or quit by using the pull down menu from Quickbooks.  

 

Let me know how to best proceed.

You're right, the links in this thread are for the Windows QuickBooks Desktop options. That's because QuickBooks Desktop for Canada is only available on the Windows platform. It sounds like you may be using QuickBooks Desktop for Mac, which is available for our US counterparts.

 

You've stumbled into the Canadian portion of QuickBooks community. Switching to the US or another region is as easy as clicking the flag at the top of the screen and choosing the one you need. This flag lets you know you're in the right place to find information that can help your situation because while the products are similar across the board, there are some regional differences, including what's available.
