How do I turn Class Tracking on

It'd be a pleasure to help you with this bamcontractltd.

If you have the QuickBooks Online EasyStart or QuickBooks Online Essentials subscription, the option to turn on Class Tracking will not be available. You can upgrade to QuickBooks Online Plus to use this feature.

If you are already using the QuickBooks Online Plus subscription, you can follow these steps to turn on Class Tracking:

  1. Click the Gear icon in the upper-right hand corner.
  2. Select Account and Settings.
  3. Go to the Advanced tab.
  4. Click the pencil icon for Categories.
  5. Check the boxes for Track classes and Warn me when a transaction isn’t assigned a class (if necessary).
  6. Choose whether you want One to each row in transaction or One to entire transaction.
  7. Click Save and Done.

I hope this clears out and helps you activate class tracking. Feel free to keep me posted with any questions you might have.

How do I turn Class Tracking on

Hi questions : I would like to do a class report on our restricted funds only - is that possible?
Also I have one restricted find that is reporting in operational class report and really can't work out why, it is set up in the same way as all the other restricted funds. Also there is no seperation in the balance sheet between restricted and unrestricted classes and yet if I do a class report it shows the distinction.

How do I turn Class Tracking on

Hello munchies,

Class tracking is available in QuickBooks Online Plus and Advanced.

You can try logging out and log back in to refresh your account. It helps you see the class tracking preference in the company setting.

Then, you can follow the steps provided by IntuitPhoebe or refer to the article given by my colleague AddieB about set up class tracking in QuickBooks Online.

If this won't fix the problem, it might be the cache is holding too much data. You can try using a private browser. This way, we'll know if its a browser-related issue.

Here are the shortcut keys for the private browsers:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer:  Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Command + Shift + N

If it works, you can clear the cache in your original browser. Alternatively, you can also use a compatible browser.

Let me know how these troubleshooting steps go. I'll be right here to help you.
