How to delete a customer from the phone QuickBooks phone app

Hello info548,

 

Great question. The app is great for when you need to do some work on the go and I can see how having the ability to add and make customers inactive would be helpful.

 

Because it's geared for quick work, the app has fewer abilities than the program does when logged in through a browser. One of the capabilities not available in the app at this time is to make a customer inactive. To take care of that customer and remove them from your active list, please follow these steps in the browser.

 

  1. Log in via qbo.ca.
  2. Hover over the Sales menu and choose Customers.
  3. Click the name of the customer you want to make inactive.
  4. Click Edit on the customer profile.
  5. Select the Make inactive button on the bottom of the customer profile. 

There are a couple of other ways to do this, such as checking off the customer in the customer list and choosing Make inactive from the Batch actions drop-down menu or by choosing the down arrow in the ACTION column of the customer list and selecting Make inactive.

 

You'll note that I keep referring to this process as making the customer inactive rather than deleting them. This is because there isn't an option to delete a customer once you've entered them into the program. Making them inactive will remove them from your customer list and transaction drop-downs.
